Couples Therapy in Frederick, MD

Strengthening connection, communication, and your relationship

Every relationship experiences challenges. Couples therapy can provide a supportive space to slow down, better understand one another, work through conflict, and rebuild connection.

At By Your Side Counseling Services, our goal isn’t simply to help couples “stop fighting.” We help partners understand the patterns that keep them feeling stuck and develop healthier ways of communicating, connecting, and responding to one another.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Our couples therapists are trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an evidence-based approach that focuses on the emotional bonds and attachment needs within a relationship.

EFT helps couples look beyond the surface of an argument to understand what may be happening underneath it—such as feeling hurt, rejected, disconnected, unseen, or afraid of losing connection. By identifying these patterns and learning new ways of responding to one another, couples can work toward greater emotional safety, trust, and connection.

Our therapists are trained in EFT and incorporate EFT-informed approaches into their work with couples, tailoring treatment to each couple’s unique needs and goals.

Couples therapy may be helpful for:
