Family therapy doesn’t always mean that every family member has to participate. Depending on your family’s needs and goals, sessions may include the entire family, parents or caregivers, or specific family members.
Your therapist will work with you to understand your family’s unique experiences and develop an approach that feels appropriate and supportive. Therapy can help family members learn practical skills for communicating more effectively, navigating conflict, expressing their needs, and strengthening their connections, both during therapy and beyond.
Our goal isn’t to create a “perfect” family. It’s to help your family develop healthier ways of understanding, supporting, and connecting with one another.
Family therapy can be done on its own, or in addition to one of the family member’s individual therapy.
Family therapy is available at By Your Side Counseling Services in Frederick, Maryland, with telehealth available throughout Maryland.
Please note: We do not currently provide reunification therapy or court-ordered family therapy. This is a different concept that requires specialized training.
